Valentine's Day Makeup Look

Play it safe on Valentine's Day and opt for minimal makeup because the truth is, guys like girls with as little makeup as possible! (most guys at least!) Since the name of the game is "Who me? I'm not wearing makeup", opt  for subtle, earthy tones to enhance your natural beauty! ;) If you like the bold, sexy, sultry look, you can definitely go in for a bright red lipstick, but make sure it's matte, long-wearing and transfer-free! ^_^ In this video, I also show you a few essentials to keep in your clutch when you're heading out for a date! :)

Hope you guys enjoy it! Please subscribe to my youtube channel for more fun videos!

My cinnamon highlights | Hair

For 2 years now,  I've resisted the urge to highlight my hair, reminding myself that colouring can lead to more hair damage on my dry hair. I spend a lot of time with my Hairstylist Dolma who is an expert with haircuts, styling and colouring! Right before we left to Goa for a destination wedding, she got herself a cute bob cut with gorgeous mahogany streaks that sat so beautifully on her silky smooth hair! I was surprised at how her new look chopped off not only her hair, but also took away 10 years, making her look much younger!!

So on our flight journey, this was the topic of discussion.

I  have major issues with my dry, frizzy hair which can be very unmanageable at times! I've always wanted to add streaks to my hair, without drying it out further and making it look frizzier! Since I wanted a very subtle look, with a hint of colour, Dolma suggested to go for deep reds, mahogany, and browns instead of the lighter golds and browns. Lighter hues draw more attention to frizzy hair so stay away from them unless your hair is healthy and shiny! Plus, I always wanted a reddish brown since it looks amazing on Indian complexion... The moment Dolma suggested I go for a shade called "Cinnamon", my face lit up!! I love cinnamon everything- mixing it in my oats, sprinkling it on top f my coffee, baking cinnamon truffles and even applying it on my face as a mask!

Even better, Dolma advised me to go for 2 shades - cinnamon and hazelnut.. now how could I say no to that!!??? So she went ahead and alternated between these two beautiful shades to cut the monotony of one colour!

Dolma gave me a voluminous blow dry after, which lasted me for 2 days! Yes, my weekend was sorted.

To protect my colored hair, I bought the Wella Professionals shampoo and conditioner (for coloured hair) since it works amazing to keep your hair healthy and shiny! Oh and after your first hair wash, the colour will stand out even more! :)

I absolutely love the haircut and streaks she gave me, I just can't get enough of them!! ^_^

Guess what... For those of you who want to get a haircut or colour from Dolma, she is offering a 20% discount on salon services to all Mesmereyes Makeup followers!! :D Yaaay! Her salon is in Luz Church Road (Mylapore) and her number is +919884759596.

Hope you guys like the highlights as much as I do! :P Gosh, it's amazing how a new hairdo can make you feel so fabulous!! ;)

Have a beautiful day!

No eyeshadow makeup... Minimum effort, maximum impact!

It's December already!! Ahhh can't believe this year is coming to an end!! :O As clitchéd as it sounds, this year has flown by too quickly!!

Anyway, last night when I went out with my friends, I decided to live up to this festive season by wearing a bronze sequined top.. I actually bought it 4 years ago while I was on holiday in London. It's amazing how it doesn't look that old, thats the beauty of sequins!! :D

Top: Miss Selfridge
        Black waxed jeans: Zara
   Watch: Michael Kors

When it came to my makeup, I decided to go for "minimum effort, maximum impact" haha.. I had a looooong day yesterday and I couldn't be bothered to dress up! Plus, less is MORE sometimes!

I went for the no eyeshadow look! I literally used a black kohl pencil and a bright red lipstick!!
Okay, you can stop there if you want it to stay for one hour, but for your makeup to last all day it's really important to layer it up! So On top of the black kohl, I used black eyeshadow to set it in place with a pencil brush from mac called #219.

Coral Red- Oriflame, M.A.C Smolder

Let me make this simpler:

1. Draw a line on top of your eyes and below with a black kohl pencil. I used M.A.C Smolder as it's jet black and smudges alot!! Now you must be wondering why I would like a pencil that smudges..? For this look, I've just smoked out my eyeliner and smudged it with a smudge brush so it's easier to use this pencil instead of one that is stubborn and smudge proof.

2. Smudge this with a smudge brush- M.A.C #219

3. Dab on some black eyeshadow on top with the same brush so that it sets the kohl and it remains in tact all night long!!

4. Curl your lashes and apply some mascara!

For my lips, I used a gorgeous Coral Red lipstick by Oriflame from the Demi Moore Collection. It's long lasting so there's no need for touch ups!! :D

I also used some foundation before I started my makeup to even it out since my skin has been acting up lately!!

Hope this was helpful! :)

Have fun. party hard and make the most of 2013!!!

How to apply LIPGLOSS over RED lipstick

Watch my 59 seconds video on how to apply lipgloss over RED lipstick!

You might wonder why it's different to the usual method of applying lipgloss, but you have to be careful when your applying BOLD shades like red, orange, hot pink etc..

Firstly, these bright shades must be applied with a steady hand, preferably with a lip brush because they draw crazy amounts of attention! If you make a mistake, it will definitely show! It's not as forgiving as lighter lip shades!

The key point to note- apply lipgloss only on the centre of your lips, to the inside rather than the edges of your lips. Stay within the centre of your lips!

What I wore on my lips:
1. M.A.C Cherry Lip Pencil
2. M.A.C Ruby Woo Lipstick
3. M.A.C Clear LipGlass

You can substitute these products for other makeup brands!! :)

I've used M.A.C Clear LipGLASS because it's amazingly reflective and literally gives a glossy-glassy finish! It has no shimmer, it's super smooth and gives a wet sexy look! A little goes a loooong way, make sure to take extremely little!! But beware- it is very sticky!! (Strands of my hair gets stuck to my lips! :/ )

Hope you enjoyed this super quick tip!! (Apologies for the background noise, I wasn't planning on making a video- spontaneous decision! :P

P.S- The video ends with a picture I took for Women's Day. Click here to have a look!

Lots of love,
