Makeup for a bright yellow dress!

Helloo lovelies! After I posted this pic yesterday, a lot of you'll had asked me about the blue on my eyes and the shade of my lipstick.. It's such an easy look which I have to share with you!

With a shade like yellow, it's better not to match your makeup with it since it will just get lost on your face! I suggest using contrasting, complementary colours that will make your yellow pop! The first thing that came to my mind was SUNSET! I used colors that would combine together to form a beautiful sunset. A blue/purple eye pencil instantly makes your eyes sparkle against the yellow. Now I can't go too bright on my lips since I've used a blue so I decided to go for a peachy-orangey-pinky lipstick.. Pls help me out guys, what color do you think my lipstick is ? I can't decide between peach and pink!

Eyes: First I used a Colorbar navy blue pencil called Electra 04 to line my eyes. I love this pencil because it's long lasting and they come in great shades! To really make the blue pop, it's important to apply a matching eyeshadow on top to set it. For this, I used an angular brush by M.A.C #208 ( any angular brush would work). Slightly dampen the brush and dab it on the blue eyeshadow (make sure the brush is not too wet). The eyeshadow I used is a limited edition MAC mineralize eyeshadow called Blue Sheen which delivers a rich indigo blue vibrant color. It immediately adds a pop to your eyes. This is my FAVOURITE eyeshadow and I use it with kanjusy/kanjoosy (however you spell that haha!) because it's limited edition, it's not available any more. All you beauties who have attended my workshops would have definitely seen this or used this, it's my star possession! :D On my lower waterline, I applied a black kajal by Inglot (forgot to put it into the pic). To complete the look, I applied one coat of the Lakme Eyeconic Mascara.

Lips : If you've been following my blog, you must know that I love to make my own cocktail when it comes to lipsticks.  I just mix and match a couple of shades! To add softness, I used a pale bubblegum pink lip pencil by Bourjois called Rose (number 15) and applied it all over my lips. After getting a pink base, I used an orangey peach lipstick by M.A.C called Vegas Volt. Vegas Volt is a gorgeous colour but on Indian skin tone, I prefer mixing it with a warm lip pencil for it to look good!

Hope you like the look :)

Friday Night Out Makeup!

It's not always that I get ready BEFORE time.. On Friday evening, I finished applying makeup on this lovely lady for her engagement and I headed straight home to get dressed for my friend's party. To my surprise, I was well ahead of time! ^_^

Trying to act like that's my natural pout!

I wore a bright pink peplum top which my best friend gifted me from Dubai and teamed it up with black trousers, a monochrome handbag and platforms.

For my makeup, I thought I would just apply a classic thick black winged out eyeliner but since I had time, I thought why not play around with my eye makeup!
First, I applied an eyeshadow base, the one I used was the Elizabeth Arden Eye Primer, it's sooo smooth and keeps your eyeshadow intact throughout the night, not even kidding! Apply a tiny bit of it  with your ring finger all over your eyelids.

On 2/3rds of my eyelid, I used this beautiful lilac eyeshadow (pic below) with flat brush to get a good coverage. This light colour helps open up my eyes, I picked it up from Inlgot, it's called Pearl 399. On the outer 1/3rd of my eyes, I blended another dark plum eyeshadow from Inglot- Pearl 452 with a soft fluffy brush. To make it even more dramatic, I used a lil black eyeshadow and blended it into my crease.

Inglot Eyeshadows! Left: Pearl 399 ; Right: Pearl 452

On my cheeks, I used this beautiful mineralize blush from M.A.C called Mineralize Skinfinish- Light Year. Unfortunately, it's limited edition, which means it's discontinued...If you're lucky, you might find it somewhere around the world! :) It's a soft, cotton candy, velvetty pink that adds a hint of colour without making it look overdone. I didn't want to apply too much blush since there is enough pink on my top!! Oh and this blush won't work too well for people with dusky skin, it's very light in colour so it may turn ashy on dark skin. I used a super creamy lipstick called Rose Kissed by the Lakme Lip Love collection! :) Again, I didn't want to use a hot pink that matches exactly to the colour of my top :S

M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish- Light Year

In the pic below, I'm wearing a lipstick by M.A.C called Shy Girl, but it looked slightly pale on me so I decided to change to a warmer shade that would work better with my skin tone. So I switched to the Lakme Lip Love- Rose Kissed :)

Lipstick- M.A.C Shy Girl

After changing my lip colour... Here I am, posing away! Lol.

As you can see, my hair is pretty oily, so I didn't want to touch it! I just left it as it is...to one side!

My final look!

Meet my lil cutie pie Sonu!! He's my cook's son, only 3 months old! :) He lives with us which is awesome because there's never a dull moment with him around, Sonu is a real entertainer! :P

Hope you liked this look! I had such a great night! :) I need to work on getting ready early whenever I step out so that I have time to take pics and post it on my blog!!

Meanwhile, "like" my Facebook page by clicking here, I try to update it every other day! :)

Have a great day! Mwaaah

70's Eyeliner with a Twist!

Hello lovelies!! I was getting ready to celebrate Tuscana Pizzeria's (an Italian restaurant in Chennai) 1st birthday, and as it was a day event, I decided to keep the look clean and simple! More than breaking my head over what to wear, I spend ages trying to figure out what makeup I should wear.. Ha ha! Don't get me wrong- you don't HAVE TO wear makeup every time you step out, but it's just fun experimenting with colours! Just how you decide on what accessories to team up with your outfit, or what bag you want to carry along, makeup works the same way - provided you don't cake your face up and look like a different person!! :P

Okay, back to the point!! I used MAC Tinted Moisturizer in Medium (which is basically 50% foundation + 50% moisturizer) as a base for my face. I've lined my eyes with MAC Fluidline- Blacktrack, which is a gel eyeliner  and winged it all the way out using Brush # 209 - MAC (I have the miniature version of it which came with a gift set) ! I've made sure to thicken the line to emphasize my eyes! If you look closely, you can see the eyeliner turn blue right towards the end ( on the wing of the eyeliner). I've done this by dipping the brush in the Oriflame Pro Eyeshadow Trio- Royal Blue (the middle one, refer to the pic below!) and pressing it onto the wing! This gives a classy look with a contemporary twist! Remember, you can use any colour on the wing- green, purple, blue etc...

I've finished off by applying the Lakme Abolute Flutter Secrets Mascara  and using Clinique's Chubby Stick- Super Strawberry. Chubby sticks work as a lipstick+chapstick+gloss, all in one! They are very similar to MAC's Tinted Lip Conditioner, although I prefer MAC's to Clinique's!

P.S- I avoided applying eye kohl on the inner rim of my eyes just to sort of change the look and make my eyes appear wider!

Scroll down to see a pic of the products I've used! (Sorry, didn't realize some of the pics are out of focus!)

That's all for now!! =)

Berry Blast

A soft smokey for the summer! I used MAC eyeshadows for this look- Hepcat and Blackcurrant! This is the first time I'm trying out Blackcurrant and I've fallen in love with it! Perfect matte texture, a greyish purple, great for contouring in the crease! The lipstick i used is MAC- Modesty and the mascara I've applied is the Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets Mascara. (I swear this pic doesn't do justice to my lashes! I went out after, and all my friends thought I was wearing fake eyelashes!) Ofcourse, I curled my lashes before, and applied 2 coats of mascara! =) I brushed on a tad bit of the Lakme Sun Kissed Bronzer to complete the look!

How to Apply Bronzer

Think Summer, Think Bronzer! A great way to warm up your complexion and get a sexy glowy look in minutes!

Bronzers are arguably one of the quickest tricks to bring your face back to life! It works equally well even on discoloured  or dull skin, by adding a warm healthy glow! Remember to dab some pressed/loose powder on, before applying bronzers to prevent it from streaking!

With bronzers, it's so easy to go wrong! The 3 most common reasons:

1. Wrong Shade
2. Incorrect Placement of Bronzer
3. Not blending it out

I LOVE the Lakme Sun Kissed Bronzer because:

-Texture:  velvety and satiny (not shimmery/matte!)
-Vitamin E:  which is great because it softens, conditions and      protects your skin and makes every sweep a treat!!
-Shade:  especially designed for Indian complexion, it's dual shade works as a "one bronzer fits all" concept!
-Blendable: blends away effortlessly without looking patchy
- Multipurpose: It can be used on your face and body! (Arms, legs, neck etc) .. The best bit.... It works as an AMAZING EYESHADOW!! Especially as an everyday shade! *_*

I personally feel that there are not many bronzers in the Indian market which give an end result like this one!

Definitely a must have in your makeup bag!!

The video will explain in detail the best ways to go about it! =)

Product Description:

1. Lakme Absolute Sun Kissed Bronzer- Rs. 600

2. Angular Brush- Oriflame (Set of 5) - Rs. 790

3. MAC 187 Brush- Rs. 2,550 ( I bought it as part of a limited edition set, hence the smaller packaging)

Please please try out this look and tell me what you think! If possible, share a few pics of your experience with bronzers!

Take careeee !

Hot Pink Lips!

Step out of your "comfort zone" with this gorgeousss shade of pink! It can get monotonous sticking to the classic red lips! Hot pink lips have been popping up everywhere, just manipulate the colour to match your skintone :)

I wore this look during my friend's wedding in Hyderabad, for one of the functions.. Remember to focus on one feature (lips in this case!)..  I've combined two lipsticks- Lakme Enrich Satin- No. 134 and MAC- Girl About Town.. The reason I took the extra step to mix them up together is because I wanted to achieve a "warmer" hot pink which would complement my skin tone!..

For my eyes, I've applied Maybelline's Gel Eyeliner and winged it out slightly.. Yes, I'm obsessed with winged eyeliner!! :P Ofcourse, I coated my lashes with 2 coats of mascara- Oriflame: Wonder Lash. My cheeks were brushed with a teeeeny bit of a peachish brown bronzer: Oriflame Bronzing pearls- Natural Radiance! Have any of you tried hot pink lips? What are your thoughts of it?

Lots of love,

Lakme Nine to Five Kohl Ultimate

If i were to summarize this product in one word, I'd say its FANTASTIC!  It’s jet black, long lasting (upto 8 hours), smudge proof and water resistant!!! It does what it claims to do, I was very impressed when I experimented with it! It’s made with moisturizing ceramides – which are moisturizers that actually replace the skin's natural oils ( I googled that haha! :p )

The packaging is pretty cool with a slanted rubber smudger on one end for a soft effect and a sharpener on the other end!  Remember, if you do want to achieve a soft, smudged effect, you have to do so immediately after applying it , as it dries up quickly! You can apply in on your waterline and on your upper lids as an eyliner..

It costs Rs.650/- and it’s worth every rupee because of the quality of the product!

Here’s a pic where I’ve compared it with a few other brands...

From L to R : MAC Engraved, MAC Graphblack, YSL, MAC Smolder, Chanel Noir Black, Lakme 9-5 Kohl Ultimate

After smudging it using my finertips! (I did wait 1 minute for it to settle)

Tadaaaaa! Lakme kohl Ultimate for the way!! <3

This is one of the most precious products in my makeup kit and I highly recommend it!!

Fuschia-Pink and Purple Look!

Here's a look that I wore for a Sangeet.. With Indian outfits, I really like matching the eyeshadow to the to outfit and opting for bright lips ;)

For my eyes, I've used pigment eyeshadows in the inner and outer corners... (Be careful while using pigments, they flake all over the face!! P.s- To know how to use pigments, watch my video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq4nCPUaN7k

The colors look soft and subtle because I've blended and blended and blended....!! When you just apply some pigment onto your eyelids, the color will look BOLD , but don't worry, the blending brush is your secret weapon!! :P

So here are the products that I've used:
